The 6E Rewards XL – Indigo HDFC Bank is a great credit card from HDFC Bank for high spenders. It offers unlimited 5% rewards on IndiGo flights, 3% on Grocery, Dining & Entertainment and 2% on all other spending.
Overall, you can earn a net reward yield of 1.4-2.2% with this card on spends above ₹50,000.
Unlike many other cards from HDFC Bank, the 6E Rewards XL does not have any merchant or other restrictions on the rewards you can earn.
Another great thing about the 6E Rewards XL is that the value of their rewards points in fixed and redeemable against all Indigo flight bookings. So you do not need to worry about getting stuck with unused and possibly unusable rewards.
This is different from many other Frequent Flyer programs, where the value of a point may change depending on when and where you fly. You can read more about the value of Frequent Flyer points here.
One caveat for the 6E Rewards XL is that the Annual Fee of ₹2,500 is not waivable, unlike most other cards. However the fee can be easily recovered for high spenders from the higher rewards yield vs. other cards.
You should still come out ahead after paying the fee every year. Remember also that unlike most other cards, the 6E Rewards XL offers unlimited rewards in all categories, a feature that is worth a lot to high spenders.
Consider the Millennia Credit Card if you spend less than ₹50,000 a month on your card.
It offers a net reward yield of 2.3-2.7% on spends up to ₹50,000.
If you spend less than ₹10,000 a month on your card, consider the Bharat Credit Card with a yield of 1.9-2.4%.
